There is nothing more fulfilling to me as a psychiatrist than to journey with patients towards
healing and to unlock their potential for personal growth. Together, let’s embark on a path
towards mental wellness and inner harmony.
You may be wondering, why the name ‘The Green Onion’? It represents my
practice philosophy – the layers of the onion symbolize the intricate depths
that dwell within a person which shape their experiences and emotions; while
the color green represents mental health awareness.
By peeling back these layers, we address not only the symptoms, but also any
underlying currents that contribute to them, which I believe is key to holistic
care. My goal with patients is to create a safe space where they feel empowered
to explore these depths, fostering self-understanding, growth and healing.
Being fluent in English, Mandarin, and Teochew helps me communicate and
connect meaningfully with patients, ensuring that language barriers do not
hinder support provided for their mental health.

During my tenure at Changi General Hospital (CGH) prior to transitioning to private practice, I held multiple pivotal roles that shaped my professional journey. In addition to providing outpatient care to patients, I led the inpatient psychiatric services as the primary psychogeriatric ward consultant. I was also heavily involved in supporting the mental health of the elderly in the community through my involvement with the Community Psychogeriatric Programme. Through consultation liaison, I collaborated closely with medical and surgical specialties, offering expert advice for their patients. I also had the honor of being appointed the psychiatry clinical lead of the Eastern General Hospital (EGH) Planning Committee, where I spearheaded the development of psychiatric services in the new hospital.
My journey in psychodynamic therapy began in 2014 during my psychiatric residency. I continued to pursue advanced training and was part of the local pioneer batch to graduate from the Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) Core Training Module by the ISTDP Institute, in February 2023. Additionally, I undertook a foundation course in Group Analysis by the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) to broaden my therapeutic repertoire.
I remain dedicated to medical education and have served as clinical faculty educator in various esteemed medical schools, including Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University of Singapore (NUS) and Duke-NUS Medical School.

I serve as a visiting consultant for several nursing homes, collaborating with their staff to enhance patient care. This includes facilitating case discussions to provide additional insights and support for complex situations.
I am a seasoned speaker at several public talks and webinars, with a passion for raising awareness on mental health and discussing ways to support a healthier mind.
